“The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain." - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Yes, it was one of those days in late May where the weather was unpredictable.  Checking the weather two weeks prior to make sure we were in the clear for an outdoor wedding is routine for us.  With all weather reports stating zero to ten percent chance of rain that whole week, we were all set to host Sam and Nate’s wedding on a beautiful sunny day in May… so we thought…

Samantha and Nate had chosen the stunning venue of Kunde Family Estates Winery in the rolling hills of Kenwood to host their wedding celebration.  They were one of the sweetest couples we’ve had the chance to work with, and since they and their guests had made the long trek from the east coast, we knew we had to make this day worth the journey - no matter what challenges the weather brought!

As we were on our way to Kunde, we noticed dark clouds in the sky and the air was brisk.  Checking the weather reports again to be sure- all stated zero to fifteen percent chance of rain.  Hesitant to set everything up, we had to take that chance.  As we were half way through setup it started pouring rain.  We had to think on our feet and think fast. We realized that moving the ceremony into the wine cave would provide the best experience for all.  We still wanted to keep an intimate, romantic feel to the wedding, so we lit the cave with candlelight and placed rose pedals around the stage to frame the beautiful bride and groom.

After the ceremony, the rain subsided so we guided the guests up to Boothill where they had the chance to admire sweeping views of the vineyards, breathe in the fresh air, and take pleasure in the charming outdoor space that was created for this extraordinary day. Surrounded by glittering chandeliers hanging from majestic oaks and a plush lounge fashioned under the trees, guests were able to relax, sip wine, and enjoy one another’s company in refined comfort.

After dinner, the rain decided to pick up again so we escorted the guests into Kunde’s tasting room where they danced the night away.  Despite the unexpected conditions set by Mother Nature, Samantha and Nate’s wedding was beautiful and memorable.  Their optimistic attitude and love for one another conquered all and kept everyone in good spirits.  The day was filled with love, joy, hope and excitement - none of which ever fell short!  A stunning wedding that we will never forget.

Enjoy!
